An At-Home Maternity Photoshoot in Geelong

Who said maternity photos can’t happen at home?

No travelling. No changing outfits in the car. Your favourite music on, your wardrobe within reach and plenty of time to settle in and forget that you’re having your photo taken.

For this maternity photoshoot, it was simply the two of them at home, documenting the calm before everything changes.

And I love how it came together.

Why have your maternity photos at home?

Your home doesn’t need to be huge, perfectly styled or look like it belongs on Pinterest.

Give me some natural light and a few simple spaces to work with and we’re good to go.

A bedroom, living room, hallway or blank wall near a window can give us plenty of variety. We can move furniture, follow the best light and make your home work for us.

There’s also something lovely about photographing your pregnancy in the place where you’re actually living it.

The place you’ll bring your baby home to. The couch you’ll spend hours feeding them on. The bedroom that’s about to become a lot less peaceful.

It makes these photos feel even more like yours.

A maternity photoshoot for the two of you

Maternity photography doesn’t have to be all flowing dresses and solo portraits of your bump.

When it’s just you and your partner, your maternity session can feel a lot like a couples photoshoot. Just with a third person tagging along.

We’ll photograph you together, as well as plenty of you on your own. I’ll guide you throughout the session, so you don’t need to arrive knowing how to pose, what to do with your hands or how to look natural in front of a camera.

There’ll be cuddling, laughing, moving around and quiet moments together.

Because this chapter belongs to both of you.

What do you wear for maternity photos at home?

This is another big win for an at-home maternity photoshoot - your entire wardrobe is right there.

You might start in something casual, change into a dress, show off your bump a little more or finish with something completely different. And nobody is getting changed behind a towel at the beach.

My maternity clients also have access to my client wardrobe, with pieces selected specifically for pregnancy, and I can help style both you and your partner before your session.

We’ll make it feel like you, just photographed really bloody well.

Planning your maternity photoshoot in Geelong

I recommend booking your maternity photography session from around 12 weeks, with most sessions taking place between 30–34 weeks of pregnancy.

Your photoshoot can happen at home, in my natural light Geelong studio or outdoors across Geelong, the Surf Coast and Bellarine Peninsula.

And if you’re also planning newborn photos, you can book both sessions together with my Bump to Baby package. Your newborn session can even happen right back here at home, creating a pretty special before and after of your family changing.

Because your home might look very different in a few months.

And so will the two of you.
